Startling Statistics – The Orphan Crisis

Here are some numbers you may not have heard to help provide some perspective to the real crisis of orphans today.

  • According to Unicef, there are 145 million orphans worldwide

  • A child dies in the world every 5.2 seconds.

  • On 9/11, 2,972 people died in the Trade Center and Pentagon attack - Today, 16,600 children will die and it won’t be on the news.

  • Between 1939 and 1945, Hitler executed 6 million Jews. This year alone 6 million children will die.
  • If orphans were a country by population they would rank 8th in the world!
